Business Development Manager – ANZ | AgTech | Uncapped Commission + Equity | Sydney or Orange NSW (Hyrbid)

BioScout is an AgTech company that has built world-first sensor technology for detecting airborne crop disease. The sensors sit in the field and give farmers real-time data on what's coming, so they can map, prevent, and manage outbreaks before yield is lost. The result is better crops, less chemical use, and lower spend. The technology is patent-protected and, by BioScout's account, the first of its kind.

The company has product-market fit, strong customer retention, and a live pipeline of qualified opportunities across Australia and New Zealand. This is not a build-from-nothing story. It's a scale-what's-working story, and ANZ is at the centre of it.

You'd be the first dedicated ANZ Business Development Manager. You report to the Chief Revenue Officer, who passes warm leads to you from international events and relationships. You partner with the incoming marketing hire, who is building the events strategy, enablement, and outbound campaigns behind your motion. Beyond that, you run the region your way.

What you'll actually do

• Build and manage targeted prospect lists across ANZ: growers, agribusinesses, and farm owner-operators across BioScout's key crop verticals

• Run outbound properly. Cold calls, LinkedIn, email. Research-led, not scatter-gun

• Own the full sales cycle: qualify, run discovery, build the business case, navigate buying committees, close

• Attend field days, agricultural conferences, and industry events across ANZ (around one week a month of travel, planned by region in advance)

• Run on-farm visits to build real relationships with key prospects and customers

• Keep disciplined CRM records and accurate pipeline reporting

• Work with the CRO on warm lead handovers from international networks

• Feed field intelligence back to marketing: buyer language, messaging, what's landing

Who this suits

You don't need a career in AgTech. What matters is that you can sit on a farm, speak plainly, ask the right questions, and make someone feel genuinely understood. Agriculture is a relationship industry, and farmers read people fast.

• You'd rather start a conversation than wait for one. Cold calling doesn't faze you

• You can tell a real deal from noise, and you spend your time accordingly

• You've carried a number and hit it without being managed closely

• You're organised enough to keep a large, active pipeline moving without losing track of where each deal sits

• You've worked somewhere fast-moving and know what that means: systems aren't always built, priorities shift, no one hands you a playbook. You build what you need and keep going

• You're honest and direct. You don't oversell or make promises you can't keep

A background in agriculture, agribusiness, capital equipment, or hardware sales helps, as does any field where buying cycles are long and buyers spend their own money. A personal connection to the land is a plus, not a requirement.

What success looks like

• Early on: pipeline built, first discovery conversations run, CRM in genuine working order

• Building: deals progressing through 3 to 6 month cycles, business cases landing with owner-operators and C-suite buyers

• Established: consistent close rate, a region you know better than anyone, warm and cold pipeline both producing

• Throughout: field feedback shaping how BioScout sells, not just what you close

Most “first sales hire” roles ask you to build a plane while flying it, with no fuel and no map. This one is different. The product works, customers stay, and there's a qualified pipeline waiting. You're being handed a region with real demand, warm leads from the CRO, and a marketing hire building underneath you.

You'll be trusted to run it your way. That trust is the point. If you've built a region before and want to do it again somewhere the fundamentals are already in place, this is worth a proper look.

You'll need to be based in Sydney or Orange (NSW), or somewhere within easy reach of a major airport, and up for roughly a week a month on the road.

This role is to be filled by Pointer, it is not for Pointer. The successful candidate will also receive 12 months of ongoing training and support, including advanced training programs and access to communities for professional growth - All of which is provided by Pointer in addition to internal programs.
